Homeworld 2 is good. They fixed all the things I despised about the original, mainly the controls, interface, the resources. The game looks awesome, plays smooth, and has excellent mood. Unfortunately, that's it. It doesn't have anything that any other RTS has. Its extremely well done, voiced, compossed, everything...but its boring.

There is no innovation, no truly unique gameplay. 3D space movement is cool, but with no evironment, it's boring. The strategy is weak thanks to the limited roles and abilities of the units.

Outside of Singleplayer, the game is just a fancy screensaver.

If they added persistance into the game (some research is permanent and carries over between games), custom forces (have 10 different fighter configs and save the kinds you like/earned), advantages/disadvantages (weak sensors, but better antifighter guns), leaders/commanders/heroes (special abilities, combat units). Right now, the only interesting feature is being able to customize your colour and insignia.

Give this game some depth, customization, and it would go from Good to Great.
